MDFA ironically deals with the classical sculptural tradition of stone-carving to reveal the latent object in each rock.
MDFA is conceived as the removal of the remaining mass in a large stack of industrialized MDF boards. As if the furniture series were already inside this stack, the boards are cnc-milled to remove the remaining matter. The tension between this absolutely obsolete process, derived from the classical sculptural tradition, the industrial origin of the material and the computer driven milling process produces a series of ironic objects, halfway in between the antique dealer and furniture outlet.
MDFA was designed by BURR (E.Fuertes, R.Martínez, A.Molins, J.Sobejano) in Madrid in 2021. The outcome was photographed by Maru Serrano.
